Rattlers The Flatcar Rattlers are a raucous grimey bluegrass group with all the fixins. They mix up rootsy backwoods Appalachia with fast punk rock to make up a distinct new-timey sound implanted with mountain songs and murder ballads. Joel Weickgenant of Austin 360 described the bands performances as songster punk, uncorking a moonshine-laced attack that sounded as if it was conceived in a room somewhere in the North Carolina Appalachians, between a washtub bass and a stack of records by Hank Williams and the Clash. With six members from six states, this bunch of ramblers eventually made camp in Austin, TX. While their day jobs range from making guitars to making airplanes, on stage the Flatcar Rattlers howl and Fiddle to beat the devil as Doug Freeman of the Austin Chronicle stated. Their high octane live shows have created a nice buzz in a short time ranking them in the top ten of Best New Bands and Best Bluegrass Bands in the Austin Chronicles 2008-2009 Music Poll. Shut Eye Records & Agency recently brought Flatcar Rattlers' new record Which Side Are You On? to EuroAmericana radio. |
